Behind the scenes, the hiveonline team has rallied our connections in the fintech and development spaces to form a group of organizations under the banner of “Fintech vs Covid-19”. The group has been developing ideas for our joint platforms to provide maximum support for the communities of micro-businesses in Sub-saharan Africa that will be most affected by the current and on-going crisis.
At the beginning of the crisis, hiveonline and partners compiled a high-level report outlining the opportunity presented by the fintechs to drive impact and assist in both the short and long-term economic effects of COVID-19 that was shared with the UN. Since then, the group has grown and serves as a forum for discussions on community finance and how to best bolster financial resilience for vulnerable communities.
